Most commonly asked questions about touchless fare validators for all-door boarding!

Touchless boarding is a critical step in protecting frontline transit workers and riders. Have you considered adding touchless validators to your mobile ticketing solution to validate payments, but you are unsure how it works for all-door boarding?

ZIG Transit uses sensor technology and a smartphone app to enable passengers to board at any door with contactless ticket validation. Our solution enables hands-free boarding by validating fares instantly as users board, without riders having to remove their smartphone from their bags, scan a QR code, or tap a card. Our no-touch sensor validators reduce boarding delays and increase rider safety.

1. How does all-door boarding work?
As the rider boards the vehicle, sensors installed near the front or rear door will communicate automatically with the rider’s mobile phone to validate the ticket with a customized range from a few inches to over 40 feet, tailored to each specific needs. Our ZIG sensors can work on Bus or Rail.

2. What is the technology used by the sensors?
Our hardware validation sensors are based on BLE and NFC technology with an accuracy of 98%, the first of its kind in North America, to support completely hands-free boarding.

3.How do we ensure everyone boarding has valid tickets?
The sensors auto-connect with mobile phones to validate tickets even if the user carries the phone in their pocket. Drivers are alerted if a valid ticket is not found on any rider.
