Touchless boarding is a critical step in protecting frontline transit workers and riders. Have you considered adding touchless validators to your mobile ticketing solution to validate payments, but you are unsure how it works for all-door boarding?

ZIG Transit uses sensor technology and a smartphone app to enable passengers to board at any door with contactless ticket validation. Our solution enables hands-free boarding by validating fares instantly as users board, without riders having to remove their smartphone from their bags, scan a QR code, or tap a card. Our no-touch sensor validators reduce boarding delays and increase rider safety.

Here are the answers to the most commonly asked questions about frictionless fare validators for all-door boarding!!

1. How does all-door boarding work?
As the rider boards the vehicle, sensors installed near the front or rear door will communicate automatically with the rider’s mobile phone to validate the ticket with a customized range from a few inches to over 40 feet, tailored to each specific needs. Our ZIG sensors can work on Bus or Rail.

2. What is the technology used by the sensors?
Our hardware validation sensors are based on BLE and NFC technology with an accuracy of 98%, the first of its kind in North America, to support completely hands-free boarding.

3.How do we ensure everyone boarding has valid tickets?
The sensors auto-connect with mobile phones to validate tickets even if the user carries the phone in their pocket. Drivers are alerted if a valid ticket is not found on any rider.

4.How do drivers see who is entering the rear door?
A display unit streams real-time video and shows ticket status for each rider preventing fare evasion.

5. Do all drivers need a display unit?
The display is optional for front door boarding but is recommended for rear-door entries.

6.Does the rider need Internet on smartphones to board?
The user only needs to activate their Bluetooth and have the mobile app installed on their smartphone. The sensors will provide the internet connectivity needed to validate fares.
7.Do the sensors support all smartphones?
Our sensors have been tested to connect on 2012 models or newer phones.

8. Do the sensors count the number of passengers on board?
The sensors come with an automated passenger counter and a social distancing alert system.

9. Can you integrate the sensor features with an existing app?
Yes. We offer a full solution with a mobile app and validators. But our sensors can be rapidly integrated into existing apps using our APIs.

10. How long does it take to implement the solution?
The sensors can be installed in less than 30 minutes per vehicle. The entire solution including your mobile app can be implemented within weeks.

11. Do the sensors need to be integrated into existing onboard equipment?
Onboard integration is optional. Our sensors can work completely stand alone. Any integration for reporting purposes can be done via the backend systems to reduce costs and installation time.
